Balancing Motherhood and Ambition: The Power of Lactation Rooms
Lactation, a miraculous biological process, is the unsung hero of early motherhood. Its significance is rivaled only by childbirth...
“We’re committed to ensuring new mothers in Nigeria receive the support and medical care they need, recognizing their crucial role in raising good citizens and building a great nation.”
Dr. Sandra N. Uzodimma
In Nigeria, the mother is given pride of place. She’s expected to be strong and take care of her baby and herself.
However, who looks out for her to ensure she is physically and mentally fit? Her maternal health is usually neglected. We know it takes healthy mothers to raise good citizens, and good citizens to build a great nation.
We have decided to shine a light on the maternal health of new mothers and help them get through that delicate phase of their lives through the provision of the much-needed support system and medical attention that will ensure they enjoy good maternal health.
As nurturers and caregivers, we shape the lives of our children and our families.
Your Support Shapes the Future!
Together, we can empower individuals and communities to reach their full potential.
In Nigeria, maternal and child health remains a critical issue with far-reaching implications for the nation’s well being and development.
Nigeria faces significant challenges in maternal and child health, which directly affect the country’s overall health indicators and socioeconomic development.
The high rates of maternal and infant mortality are stark indicators of the struggles faced by mothers and children. The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that Nigeria accounted for approximately 20% of global maternal deaths in 2017, with a maternal mortality ratio of 512 per 100,000 live births.
Additionally, UNICEF data shows that one in eight Nigerian children dies before their fifth birthday.
Motherhood is a blessing, but it often comes with challenges. Maternal health is a vital issue that affects not only women but also their families and communities. We are a Nigeria-based nongovernmental organization whose sole purpose is to support, love, and cater for mothers.
In a moment of darkness and uncertainty, I was urged to see some form of light, which birthed the initiative Mom of Boys Nigeria.
It is my sole dream to ensure moms are not alone on this lonely journey called motherhood. It’s riveting to glance at the potentially strong community of parents enhancing their knowledge of childcare.
